The past several years have been undoubtedly … strange, to say the least. There has been an insurmountable amount of change in an incredibly short period of time. Some people have emerged changed with different ideals and new ways of living. Others have chosen to find solace in nostalgia—the memories of what was over the anticipation of what’s to come.
I find I fall somewhere in between. I’m excited for the future. But I find balance in holding on to my memories tightly. Now, more than ever, gatherings with family and friends are what I look forward to the most. This togetherness is the foundation on which I live my life. My introverted-extroverted self somehow still loves the high energy that comes with knowing the holidays will be at my home this year.
There’s something to be cherished about reunion. It can look like gathering with loved ones new and old. It can look like a reintroduction with yourself. The five minutes it takes to do a face-wash ritual in the mornings and evenings and how you become reacquainted with your skin in the process. Reunion is nostalgia, it’s new love, it’s a familiar taste, it’s an old friend, it’s a crowded room. Reunion is truly the conduit for joy and all things beautiful and transformative. I am so excited for this comeback issue and all it encompasses. The team and I hope you draw inspiration from these pages. We hope that these stories speak to you and bring about a zest for life.
Cheers,
Ayesha
